Project description
Current ethics identify human “Perception Problems” towards climate crisis, resulting from its – for our senses – too gradual and long-term nature. The project aims to explore one of the many possible contributions to these problems in a specific context by asking: How can a case study on forests in the Göstling Alps before the influence of climate change help tackle these Perception Problems?
The attempt is to obtain tangible information about the forest from experiences of a forest worker of that time. These experiences can no longer be asked of him directly, they are only available and can only be asked about as memories passed on to the next generation. For this reason, it became clear that the work was about much more: How can memories be preserved and utilised without bypassing the presence of the obvious and huge gaps?
Despite the devastating effects of climate change on the forest, a current voice from the management of the same forest today points to a perspective of hope.
